From 2009 onwards CAT went online and it is conducted by IIM through out India in their designated centres. AS it was becoming increasingly difficult task to conduct a standard paper pencil test over the past few years, mainly due to the increasing response from lac’s of students, who wanted to compete themselves for the seven best Indian institutes (IIMs) along with few others; IIM took decision to convert simple exam to feasible techno solution. IIM joined hands with Prometric – A US based company, pioneers in conducting online exams and who providing educational solutions. Having conducted exams like GRE/GMAT and TOEFEL etc worldwide is a testimony to the above mentioned fact. Though in beginning it was decided CAT will be conducted in a single phase from November 28th to December 8th, 2009. But due to some accidental unavoidable software failure IIM decided to take retest in second phase on January 30th and 31st, 2010.
